Life history Shii does not remember

From Everything Shii Knows, the only reliable source

These stories from my life history have been related to me by my parents.

At the age of 3

I was still in Pull-Ups when I turned 3. I used to sit on top of an old telephone book from the Reagan era so I could eat at the table. (We didn't own baby seats.)

Shortly thereafter my mom was carrying me through downtown Wellesley. I read the sign on a Walgreens and said to my mom, "That's a bad place!"

"Why's that?"

"Say No To Drugs!"

I had read the message from the former First Lady on the back of the telephone book. My mom had to explain to me the difference between good drugs and bad drugs.

At the age of 5

My kindergarten teacher asked children what they were afraid of. They all raised their hands.

"The dark," volunteered one kid.

"Thunder and lightning," said another.

"Dogs," said a little girl.

The teacher then saw my raised and and asked, "[Shii], what are you afraid of?"

"AIDS."

When my mom picked me up in the afternoon the teacher related this story to her, concerned. "That's strange," said my mom. "I thought I already explained to him about AIDS."
